Rohit Sharma’s blitzkrieg against Sri Lanka: 264(173)

• Only India has produced players that have achieved a feat of scoring double hundreds in ODI’s, this includes Sachin and Sehwag whilst Rohit having scored it twice.

• This is the highest score in ODI history, as he cruised past Sehwag’s world record of 219 at Indore against the West Indies.

• His 264, was also inclusive of 33 fours, a record by itself in ODI history.

• Rohit’s first hundred runs was a run a ball whilst his last 164 runs came of just 73 deliveries.

• He becomes the only man to score two double tons in ODI history, following his 209 against Australia at Bangalore.

• Sharma, shares a distinct record by outscoring the opposition, as he amassed 264 while Sri Lanka capitulated for 251 chasing a mammoth target of 405.

• The Mumbai skipper fell short by 4 runs for the highest individual List A batting score. The highest being held by Ali Brown, having scored 268.

• 173, is the number of balls played by Rohit during his innings, is the highest by any batsman in a 50-over ODI. Funnily enough, ‘Maggi boy’ as he is known, now holds the record.

• Rohit slammed 9 sixes in his knock of 264, however he hit 16 sixes against Australia in his 209, which still remains a world record.

• 252, is the average runs per innings for teams in ODIs over the last ten years. Rohit alone scored 264 in this game.
